2013 MY Campers have been chosen!
“MY Camp is once in a lifetime experience that changes your life in many ways,” says 2012 MY Camper Daša Robič. The names of the 60 Millennium Youth Campers for 2013 have now been published. The 26 girls and 34 boys come from 31 countries all over the world.
This year Millennium Youth Camp will be bigger and even better than before. In June, 60 science enthusiasts aged 16 to 19 from all over the world will arrive in the capital region of Finland to experience a week full of science, great fun and good friends.
“Before going on MY Camp I spoke with a previous MY Camper and he described it as the best experience ever! I couldn’t even imagine the greatness of the camp, until I took part in it. MY Camp is unforgettable, it is hard to describe just with worlds – you have to live it!” says Daša Robič, 17, from Slovenia who participated MY Camp 2012.
This year Daša’s home country Slovenia was one of the countries from which the most applicants, five of them, got through to the camp. Five campers also come from Brazil and Romania, and China and the host country Finland both have four campers.
All in all, the campers represent the whole world: 27 of them come from Europe, 11 from Asia and 3 from Middle East, 8 from South America, 6 from Africa, 4 from North America and 2 from Oceania.
During the camp, these youth will visit universities and high-tech companies in Helsinki and neighboring cities, meet prestigious scientists, spend unforgettable evenings with each other and work on the projects in theme groups, among other things
“I enjoyed every second there, learnt lots of new things and met many great peers, mentors and experts from all around the world. I’m especially honored that I had the opportunity to meet, speak and take a picture with Millennium Technology Prize winners Linus Torvalds and Shinya Yamanaka, who also won the Nobel Prize!” Daša says.

MyScience will introduce each of the 10 theme groups during the spring, and like during previous years offer news, photos, and videos from the Camp in June.
