Bioscience and Technology attracted MY Camp applicants
The application period for Millennium Youth Camp 2013 has ended. Next summer the Camp will have more themes than ever before, and one of the new ones, Bioscience and Technology, attracted the most applicants.

Nearly a thousand young people aged 16 to 19 from every corner of the world applied to MY Camp 2013. All the continents were represented, and the highest number of applications came from Romania that has had several talented youth at the Camp every year since the first one, held in 2010. There were also dozens of applicants from Brazil, Egypt, India, the USA, and Italy.
Out of the ten themes for 2013 Camp, Biosciences and technology was the most popular one. Also familiar themes from previous years, Applied Mathematics, ICT, and Energy attracted high number of applicants.

“We are very pleased with the high number of applicants and the high quality of applications. The future of the world is in good hands. I would like to warmly thank all the applicants”, says the Chair of MY Camp steering group, Professor Maija Aksela from Science Education Centre LUMA, University of Helsinki’s Faculty of Science.
Now, a jury of experts in science, technology, and education will go through the applications and choose 200 applicants for the second phase of the application process.
The names of the 200 most successful applicants will be published 21 January 2013 and they will be given an assignment based on their theme groups of choice, according to which the the campers will be chosen. The names of the 60 most successful applicants, who will attend 2013 MY Camp, will be announced later in the spring.
