MY Camper Adina Nedelcu: A World of Endless Possibilities
17-year-old Adina Nedelcu from Romania is, by no means by chance, in the ICT group at the Millennium Youth Camp. She is one of the thirty talented participants chosen to attend the camp this summer in Helsinki, Finland. She has always been keen on subjects like science and technology and is planning to attend an ICT university.

“Computers today are more than mere tools, having revolutionized the way we perceive and interact with the environment. I want to be a part of this incredible technological evolution.”
“I grew up reading books about inventors and scientists and watching documentaries on Discovery Channel. Therefore, I was immediately attracted by MY Camp because it gave me the opportunity to meet teenagers that share the same interests as me.”
Adina decided to reflect on the ethical considerations of pervasive computing for her project. She sees that the fact that computers are everywhere these day, has introduced a new set of both problems and solutions to the world of ICT.
“After doing some research, I designed a project aimed at high-school students. My project had three general aims: preparing the students for a possible career, informing them about the topic and developing key skills (such as adaptability, teamwork, critical thinking) by doing the application part in each meeting.”
According to Adina, people are not always familiar with the concept of pervasive computing, despite using it on a regular basis. The goal of her project is to raise awareness and introduce people to the machinery that will play an all the greater part in our everyday lives.
“Most people know how to use a computer nowadays; however, it takes a lot more training to learn how computers work – something that has always fascinated me. The possible applications of computing are endless.”
