Millennium Youth CampMYC News - Mar 01, 2012

Where are you now, MY Camper Bonnie Lei?

Last week we heard from 2010 MY Camper Jorge Araya, who studies at Harvard. Well, he is not the only former MY Camper there, as also 2011 MY Camper Bonnie Lei has started her studies at the same University.

19-year-old Bonnie Lei from California, USA, participated in Millennium Youth Camp last summer as one of the members in Climate Change group. Today, she is a student of organismic biology at Harvard University.

Bonnie has fond memories from last June, when she spent a week in Finland learning about science and technology, and getting new friends from around the world.

“Being at MY Camp has affirmed my interests in climate change, especially in how it affects biodiversity. And now I have such a strong international network of friends, who are just as passionate about changing the world,” she says.

“I hope to target my studies to better understand large scale environmental changes and working to improve our conservation efforts.”

Finland left a good impression on Bonnie and she wishes to return some day. “Such beautiful ecosystems, friendly and welcoming people, all in all a wonderful place to be. Hopefully, I have an opportunity to return to Finland for research or studies in the future!” she says.
